MINDSET OF GROWTH, GRATITUDE AND ABUNDANCE

Image
This is a very intentional method of developing one's life. Like any other good habit-building, it is hard to develop this mindset, though it is not impossible to achieve. We are created from one single source of energy, every religion may use different ways to explain it, but ultimately, we are all created from an abundant source of energy. So inherently, we all have the same features of abundance within us. It is just that, we don't get to learn about this from our early childhood at school or at home from parents or elders. God has brought us onto this earth on a purpose and we have to dedicate ourselves to that purpose. The purpose in simple terms can be explained as something that is new and creative and which was not hereto available for the rest of humanity. To explore and find this purpose, you have to spend time with yourself, in contemplation, meditation, reading books, learning from gurus, etc. Exploring this can be very fast or it can take years to find, never s

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF DESIRES – AND HOW TO NAVIGATE AROUND IT

Image
I learned this concept recently through a podcast episode. Luke Burgis while talking to Amit Varma in his podcast The Seen and the Unseen. The term “mimetic desire” was coined by René Girard , a French historian, literary critic, and philosopher of social science. According to Girard, mimetic desire is the desire to obtain an object or experience that is not inherently desirable but becomes desirable because someone else desires it. In other words, people desire things because someone else - a model - did first. Imitation is the force that shapes human desire. Girard’s theory of mimetic desire has been influential in fields such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, and literary studies. Mimetic is an adjective that means "h aving an aptitude for mimicry". It comes from the Greek verb "mimeisthai" meaning "to imitate" and from "mimos" meaning "mime". The term mimesis, derived from mimetic refers to the attempt to imitate or reprod

India's swing Voters for 2024 general elections

We don't change our biases very often as adults, be it simple things about what we eat, or what we wear to more complex things about how a country needs to be governed. As I thought about the topic, I tried to find out who could be the new voters of India in the 2024 general elections. Because potentially they could be the swing voters for India's next general election. Interestingly this new cohort of voters was born between 2002 to 2006 and is estimated to be about 12.5 crore. By the way, I behave as an adult, I feel most adults don't change their biases ever in their lives. This means that most of us have opinions about how we think about different political ideologies as well. And also I feel most of our new cohorts are adults themselves and probably they have already made up their minds, though they have not expressed their views in the form of casting their votes so far. So whichever ideology the new cohorts will choose will be forming the next new government in Delhi

How to find a Mentor in Academic and Professional Life?

Image
In today’s times, one should have the attitude of a constant learner to survive and strive better. A  mentor  is an experienced and trusted adviser who provides guidance and support to a less experienced person over a period of time, especially at work or school. A mentor is someone who has the ability to guide you at any point of time in life. Our earliest mentors are our parents, who literally teach us all the basics of becoming a human being from a living mammal from the time we are born. Then our elders, siblings, friends, family members, neighbours become our mentors in some form or the other in the formative years of lives. As we start going to schools, our teachers become our mentors, from whom we learn academically different subjects and that journey continues till the time we are in our academic careers. From the academic life we than move into the professional careers, where our colleagues, seniors, leaders etc become our mentors. And while in the professional caree
